| In 1989 YLRL Young Ladies Radio League celebrated 50 years. Members from all over the world were invited to a convention at Coco Palm Resort on Kauai, Hawaii. My friend, Agneta SM5ILO, and I look up Hawaii in an atlas, and decided to try to join. Hawaii is situated on the other side of the world, so we made some stops on the way; New York and Las Vegas on our way there, and San Fransisco and New York on our way back home. This was before the age of digital cameras, at least for me, but I did own a compact camera - aim and shoot -- and the pictures are scanned from my photo album. |

| At first we felt somewhat overwhelmed, but soon we were exploring the streets of Manhattan. | We joined a tour bus, and got to see a lot | A shop in China Town. I don't remember if we bought anything. |

| We flew on to Las Vegas and stayed at Hilton Flamingo. Breakfast in our room was served with a rose on the table.. | We had booked a flight over Gran Canyon. I had not realised how small a plan it was going to be. There were only eight seats. | The pilot tilted the plane this way and that to enable us to get good shots of things like this dam |

| The hotel had a Guest Activity Center. I signed up for a ukulele lesson. | We spend a lot of time in the Lounge by the water. | At nights men with toarched ran along the water to light fires, just like they did in the Elvis Presley movie, Blue Hawaii, recorded at this hotel. |

| That was very stupid of me. It was far too hot to be walking that far alone and without bringing any water. A nice lady stopped her car, told me off, and brought me back to the hotel. | In San Fransisco Agneta and I were look after by av Sue, KA6SOC. She took us to Muir Park to see the redwood trees. | Here is Matt, her nephew, who sadly died of his cancer the year after. |

| Well, you can see where we are now. We picknicked in the Golden Gate Park, next to the bisons. | Sue said we had to go down Lombard Street - The world's most winding street. So we did. We also took a trip on a cable-car, but I don't seem to have a picture of that. | The day after was 4th of July, and we were given flags. I still got mine. |
| Sue took us to Redwood City to see the celebrations. I took a lot of pictures of the parade, but I think two is enought to show here. |
